Important Privacy Notice: Third-Party Vendor Incident
To the HuntEx Community,
We are publishing this notice to inform you of a cybersecurity incident at a third-party service provider that has affected some personal information associated with HuntEx2026 ticket purchases.
While we have sent direct emails to all customers whose email addresses were compromised in this incident, the affected third-party database did not contain contact details for every transaction. To ensure complete transparency and that all of our 2026 attendees are fully informed, we are publishing this public notice.
Please be assured immediately that full credit card numbers, CVV/security codes, and banking passwords were NOT exposed. Your financial accounts cannot be directly compromised from this incident.
What Happened
HuntEx uses Peach Payments to securely process our online ticket sales. To comply with anti-money laundering regulations, Peach Payments uses a third-party compliance vendor called RelyComply to monitor transactions. On September 8, 2026, RelyComply experienced a data breach within their own systems.
Please note that this was not a breach of the HuntEx website, nor a breach of Peach Payments’ core systems. However, because some checkout data passed through RelyComply's systems, certain transaction information was involved.
What Information Was Affected
Based on our investigation into the records processed between 1 September 2025 and 27 April 2026, the following information relating to some purchases was accessed. (Please note that not all of these fields were exposed for every transaction):
-
Name and email address (if present in the third-party system)
-
Transaction details (date, ticket amount, and order reference number)
-
The IP address used during checkout
-
Partial card details (only the first 6 and last 4 digits of the card used)
Please note: Mobile numbers were NOT part of this breached data. You can rest assured that this specific information was not compromised.
What Has Been Done
Upon discovering the RelyComply breach, Peach Payments immediately suspended all data transmission to them and moved to a secure, alternative provider. The Information Regulator of South Africa has been officially notified of this incident (reference number SC20263150), and independent digital forensics teams are actively investigating.
What We Recommend You Do
If scammers gained access to your name, email, and genuine order details, they may use this information to make fraudulent emails appear highly convincing. We strongly recommend that you:
-
Be vigilant against phishing: Scammers may email you pretending to be HuntEx, Peach Payments, or your bank, quoting your order number or partial card details to gain your trust.
-
Never share passwords or OTPs: HuntEx will never contact you to ask for your banking details, full card number, or One-Time PINs (OTPs).
-
Ignore unexpected "refund" emails: Treat any unexpected correspondence regarding a past HuntEx order with extreme caution. (Please note that a group calling itself "Direwolf" has claimed responsibility for the breach; do not engage with any direct communication from them).
